It is an initiative of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) Government of India and is implemented by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). This scholarship scheme was started in November 2014 especially keeping in mind the disabled students.

To take advantage of the Saksham Scholarship Scheme, it is mandatory for the students to fulfill certain eligibility conditions. These conditions are based on the student's educational qualification, level of disability and financial need.

However, the candidates are selected purely on the basis of their performance in the qualifying examination. The detailed eligibility criteria for Saksham Scholarship Scheme are mentioned below –

• Scholarships are awarded to students with disabilities only.
• The AICTE Saksham Scholarship Scheme level of disability should not be less than 40%.
• The annual income of the family from all sources inclusive should be less than Rs.8 lakh.
• The applicant should be taking admission in the first year of Technical Diploma/Degree course in an institute recognized by AICTE in India.

Every year applications are invited by AICTE from eligible students through online portal within the prescribed time limit. Step 1: Visit the official portal of AICTE to know about Saksham Scholarship Scheme.

Step 2: Click on the 'Register Here' button to start the registration process.

Step 3: Fill in all the required details and register to create a new profile.

Step 4: After successful registration, applicants will receive a confirmation email link on their registered email id. Click on the link to confirm the registration.

Step 5: Login to the portal again using the registered email id and password.

Step 6: Fill the application form with information like personal details, family and income details, institution details, education details and bank details.

Step 7: Upload all the required documents along with your application.

Step 8: Finally, submit the application form.

• 10th class mark sheet.
• 12th class mark sheet.
• Mark sheet of other qualification (as per requirement).
• Family annual income certificate issued by Tehsildar or equivalent officer in the prescribed format.
• Admit card issued by Directorate of Technical Education for admission to Diploma/Degree courses.
• Certificate issued by the Director/Principal/Head of the Institute AICTE Saksham Scholarship Scheme.
• Receipt of tuition fees paid for the academic year.
• Scanned copy of bank passbook duly signed and stamped linked with Aadhaar details clearly showing the name and photograph of the student, IFSC code and account number.
• Photograph and signature of the applicant.
• Aadhar card.
• Disability certificate issued by the competent authority as per the format prescribed by the State Government.
• Scanned and attested copy of SC (SC)/ ST (ST)/ OBC (OBC) certificate (applicable for SC, ST and OBC candidates).
• Declaration in the prescribed format confirming the information given in the application signed by the parents stating that the information provided by their child is correct and the scholarship amount will be refunded if found to be incorrect at any stage .

• Every year a total of 1,000 students are selected on the basis of their merit through qualifying examination and scholarships are distributed. Of these, 500 are reserved for students pursuing diploma courses and 500 for degree courses. Adding to this, 15%, 7.5% and 27 per cent reservation is given for SC, ST and OBC candidates respectively. The financial help provided under this scheme includes the following benefits –
• 30,000 or the actual tuition fee (whichever is less) Saksham Scholarship Scheme.
• If a student gets tuition fee waiver/reimbursement, he/she will receive Rs.30,000/- to buy books, equipment, software, laptops, desktops, vehicles, etc.
• A contingency charge of Rs 2,000 every month for 10 months.
